Exchange Director Kevin

On Thursday 31st March, ten Ambassadors from four clubs in America under the leadership of Lee Rockwell from the Lincoln, Nebraska Club came to the Gold Coast to take part in a short exchange of four days before going on to Noumea in New Caledonia.

After being met at the Brisbane airport and escorted down to the Gold Coast they were welcomed at a ‘Morning Tea’ with their hosts. That morning the ambassadors were presented with a Welcome Parcel - a gift from our City Council.

Our guests had requested to see our wonderful beaches and native animals. On the Friday in a chartered bus we toured down the coastline of our city from The Spit to Point Danger on the border of New South Wales.

On Saturday we were off to Fleays Wildlife Park to look at some of the wonderful Australian native birds and animals.

That evening all our guests along with their hosts were invited to dinner at various members' homes.

On Sunday we sadly said goodbye to our new American friends when well over forty members and friends gathered at a Farewell Pot Luck Dinner.

The Lincoln Exchange had only a small number of Ambassadors who stayed with us for such a short time. Yet the enthusiasm and friendliness shown by everyone who took part in this exchange has led to many new friendships being formed between members of our clubs. This was shown at the Farewell Dinner when our Gold Coast Club was asked by our guests to apply for an exchange to visit two of these visiting clubs in 2006 so we could continue and add to the friendships that started with this exchange.
