EXCHANGE DIRECTORS
Yuri Popov (Minsk, Belarus) & Barry Purnell (Gold Coast, Australia)
Although there were the obvious cultural and language barriers, the inbound exchange from Minsk was a success, as we all embraced the Mission of Friendship Force. We certainly promoted world peace and understanding as we created an environment where individual friendships were established across the barriers.
During our picnic in Rosser Park, some of the Ambassadors and Hosts were playing bocce when an Ibis bird flew down and took the small kitty ball in his/her beak, and flew off, dropping the kitty into the middle of the lake......
Many of the Ambassadors took advantage of our beaches and swam in the surf on most days, although the water temperature was still too cool for us locals. The Ambassadors didn't mind the 20 degrees C. water temperature!
The Ambassadors departed from the Gold Coast with good memories of a great time, enjoying our part of the world and our hospitality.
I wish to thank our club members for your support of the Minsk Exchange.
