GARDENS REVEALED

Members of the Board attended a special morning at the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens when plans for the future of the gardens were unveiled.

Some of the many developments and plans revealed were...

Children’s Garden, The Hub, Mangroves to Mountains Walk, Gum Tree Corridor to be planted, Lake remediation and Wetlands Design and Planting; and a new carpark and landscaping to be completed.

Some of the industry experts and dignitaries and delegates from the Network of Regional Botanic Gardens Conference were present and guided walks were offered to experience the Gardens and preview plans for expansion.

Special mention was made of our club's involvement in the gardens including details of the new Friendship Force Avenue to commence during the International Conference in October.

The weather was glorious - as Mayor Ron Clarke said “just another perfect Gold Coast day” - which definitely impressed the visitors from as far south as Melbourne, Hobart and Wellington, NZ.....!

Our club as an entity is a member of Friends of the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens (FGCRBG) and they are always seeking new members. The Friends play an active role in the future planning and maintenance of this wonderful facility which is there for us all to enjoy. At the 2007 Christmas Party, President Miri presented Peter & Margaret, (R & L) & Marcia (Centre) with well deserved Certificates of Appreciation for their contribution to the Club through the years.

A happy group of club members gathered at the Gold Coast Harness Racing Club at Parklands where they enjoyed a pleasant evening celebrating the 15th Great Years since Friendship Force of the Gold Coast became part of the world-wide organisation of Friendship Force International.

    10th Anniversary Celebrations and Luncheon

    Over 50 club members, representatives from 17 other Australian clubs, plus our special guest FFI Executive Director and member of TFF of Atlanta, Constance Swank, celebrated our 10th Birthday at a very successful Luncheon at “Parklands”, Gold Coast.
